A Taste of Old Strathcona
This one night fundraising event is held on March 15, 2008 and requires assistance in a variety of areas including: Pick up of Auction items, Organization of silent auction items, Set up, Ticket sales, Silent auction assistants, Strike.
Silly Summer Parade
The Silly Summer Parade continues to be one of the most popular Canada Day events in the Edmonton area. Many volunteer positions exist with the Parade and Picnic in the Park. These positions include: Set Up, Parade Marshall, Cake Cutters, BBQ Assistants, Volunteer Registration, Children’s Activities, BBQ Sales, Site Floater, Strike.
The Foundation has a booth at the Market and requires volunteers for it. The shifts for the Market run from 7:45 am – 3:15 pm. The responsibilities are simple; the booth is always set up and ready to go, a small float is provided for the products available as well as price sheets. Our main “product” is promoting membership in the Old Strathcona Foundation. A typical day will bring visitors from a variety of areas as well as our regulars. It is a great way to spend a Saturday for anyone who enjoys talking to people as well as people watching. This would also be ideal for a couple or a couple of friends to do together so that each can shop the market and spell one another off.
Whyte Avenue Art Walk & Festival
This 3 day celebration of visual art in July is the perfect combination of fresh air, art and Old Strathcona. There are a variety of positions available, most of which include working with either the visitors or artists. Please visit the ArtWalk page for more details.
The Foundation is a proud partner with the Queen Alexandra History Centre which is where history comes alive for area students. Volunteers are required to assist with classes in the centre.
